Not sock lint...

Well, in another few minutes, it'll be Ash Wednesday. That means Lent starts. Now, I'm not Catholic, but my Gma and Mommy raised me Methodist, so I do the whole "give sumthin up for Lent" thing.

Last year, I gave up drinking anything but water, gave up eating meat (except seafood), and gave up chocolate.

This year it was hard to decide what to give up, because since then I've turned vegetarian. Plus I have a deal with Tyler to only drink tea, water, and protein or fruit shakes. And I swore off chocolate at new year's and can't have that again until my Bday.

Well, I thought about it, prayed about it, even talked to Tyler. We talked about what food I actually eat, what I like, and what of it is actually good for me.

I considered givin up workin out, but I know that would be unhealthy, esp since I have high blood pressure. I considered grains, but the cafeteria here basically serves nothing but pasta, tortillas, and rice. I thought about sweet stuff, but I eat very little of that since I knocked out chocolate. I knew it had to be something that would be a real sacrifice though.

Finally, we came up with me giving up dairy (excluding eggs). Why? Because nachos are my fav food and are yuck without cheese, and I eat cheese A LOT, it's one of my fav things. I'm not big on milk, but I do like the occassional yogurt or even ice cream. Cheese really is a big thing for me to give up though...I like it in nachos, on baked potatoes, in just about any mexican food, on veggie burgers, in scrambled eggs, on italian food, in string cheese, etc. If dairy is baked into something I can have it, but its the pure dairy form of it that I can't have like cheese or some icream or milk with cereal, etc.

Also, I think I need to cut off the smoothies and stuff for a while. I think water is best (incl propel) and of course occassional tea, which I rarely drink now. So basically the protein shakes and fruit smoothies are a no-go for a while too :(

Another example of me and my family typo-ing...

I was telling my mommy about my Lent decision, and I told her guess what I was giving up. She guessed a couple things, then she said:

Home: smipoops
Home: shimp

She meant shrimp though. That's about like my cmal clams lol!

Well, one bad thing real quick. Pray for Stacey and Megan Hill. Their daddy was killed in a wreck a few years ago, and this past weekend, their mom died in a fire. Stacey is my age, and I'm wanting to think Megan is somewhere in the 13-15 range.
